Derek Hill April 9, 2013 at 3:50 pm

I can’t believe that Jimmy Needham didn’t make the list… I love his music! :D

Derek Hill April 10, 2013 at 7:42 pm

Thank you for your suggestion Karen. This is the hard part of narrowing it down to only 20. There are so many great choices, including Jimmy Needham. God bless!

kiki April 11, 2013 at 5:10 pm

I agree Bart should be on here, but also Josh Wilson…he is an AMAZING singer/songwriter too…I think the next list should be the top 25!!

Derek Hill April 11, 2013 at 7:42 pm

Hello Kiki. Thanks for your suggestions. It is so tough deciding who to put in articles like this. There are so many great singers, including the ones you mentioned. God bless you!

Edwin Rivera April 11, 2013 at 5:46 pm

WOW… really?!? Some BIG NAMES missing off this list: Michael W Smith, BeBe Winans, Carman, Rich Mullins, David Meece, Kenny Marks, not sure if Michael English would still fall under this category, as certain as Ray Boltz does not, rockers: Michael Sweet (Stryper), John Schlitt & Greg X Volz (Petra), John Cooper (Skillet), and so many others! Also, of course the fact that this should be called “Favorite” instead of “Best”… Thanks anyways.. God’s richest blessings to y’all!

Derek Hill April 11, 2013 at 7:45 pm

Hello Edwin. These lists are hard to write for sure. To decide who to put in and leave out can be very difficult. I appreciate your comment and your suggestions, especially John Cooper, although I didn’t realize he released a solo album. I’ll have to see if I can find it. I love Skillet! God bless you!

Anna Rice April 12, 2013 at 11:25 pm

Jeremy Riddle and Josh Garrels…they are up and coming…great singers and songwriters and not the standard Christian music :)

Derek Hill April 12, 2013 at 11:31 pm

Thank you for your suggestions Anna. Jeremy Riddle is awesome! When he sings “Our Father”, I always draw close to God. It is an amazing song!

Greg April 13, 2013 at 6:19 am

I am really surprised that Michael W. Smith was not mentioned. He is like the Amy Grant for men. SHOCKED!!

Derek Hill April 13, 2013 at 8:21 am

Thank you for your suggestion Greg. Michael W. Smith is an amazing artist! These lists can get tricky because someone has to be left out. There are so many talented artists out there and Michael W. Smith is one of them for sure! God bless you!

Bill Hope April 16, 2013 at 6:58 pm

Can’t believe you left off John Mark McMillian and Jeremy Riddle!

Derek Hill April 16, 2013 at 8:43 pm

Thank you for your thoughts Bill. There are so many great and talented men out there that these kinds of lists can be a little tough. However, the men you suggested are great, especially Jeremy Riddle (my opinion). He is a great worship leader. God bless!

Virginia August 13, 2013 at 10:32 am

Chris Tomlin is my number one. I am afraid I am more of a person to listen to the groups, so I don’t know a lot of these singers, but I was happy to see Chris Tomlin, Matthew West, and Jeremy Camp.

Derek Hill August 13, 2013 at 4:07 pm

Hello Virginia! Thank you for stopping by our site! I definitely encourage you to check out the ones you haven’t heard of. There are so many awesome songs written by everyone on this list. God bless you!

Micah August 7, 2014 at 10:31 am

Derek Hill August 12, 2014 at 6:00 pm

Hello Hank. That is the hard part of these lists. People always get left out, but those you mentioned are awesome! Thank you for your suggestions! God bless!

Grant Turner August 14, 2014 at 11:53 am

The best Christian male vocalist of all-time is right here:

Derek Hill August 14, 2014 at 8:19 pm

Hello Grant. Thank you for showing us who your favorite male vocalist is. Steve Green definitely has a set of pipes on him! Thanks for stopping by our site and God bless!

Mike Olson August 28, 2014 at 12:38 pm

Greg..I realize that you wrote this last year. So, this is late and you may not see it. Your “favorite male artist” list is noteworthy and I read many comments that readers sent in…and your responses. By your list I can tell that you listen to more recent artists a lot. I try to listen to newer artists but my love for K-love is limited. I wish that K-Love had more traditional stuff too and more than just recent works. Their play by play by play by play leave so much to the imagination. They seem to neglect the oldies that sort of frame the current stuff. I really prefer many of the seemingly more original male artists. I don’t know if your fav list was intended solely for the most recent composers. I know that many of my list are definitely older. I do like Chapman, Camp, Mac, West and Tomlin. Great. But, what about Boltz (unprecedented and prolific despite his more recent personal lifestyle choices…I know many stations will not play his great music), MW Smith (phenom), Wayne Watson, Michael Card, English, Steve Green-wow, Keith Green–still hot today, Scott W. Brown–some pipes. Your list was great; are you going to update it for 2014? MIKE

Derek Hill September 1, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Hi Mike!

I am usually the one to respond to comments so I am not speaking for Greg. I do understand how you feel as I am a big fan of Christian metal, it never is played on regular radio stations. We all have our favorites in music for sure! Your suggestions are spot on though! They are all great artists for sure! God bless you!

Agnes October 13, 2014 at 12:30 am

For me Michael W. Smith is the best out there. Amazing song writer, awesome singer, such an inspiration.
