Awesome list. I do have two more that I would have put on though. I would have included How Great is Our God, Chris Tomlin and Your Love Never Fails, Jesus Culture Band

Thanks Brian! Both suggestions are great. Chris Tomlin has 3 songs on it already though. God bless.

This list is great, but I can’t agree. I personally think Keith Green was one of the greatest Christian artists ever- so no list of great Christians could be complete without a song from him.

Derek Hill April 14, 2013 at 5:25 pm

Thank you for your suggestion Mary. Unfortunately, I am not too familiar with Keith and his works. I know he has written some great songs, but I haven’t had the chance to listen to him. I will check him out. God bless!

Yes, Keith Green songs should have been all through this list. Maybe a Blind Willie Johnson song too. This list is a nice list, but it is pretty much songs from the last 10 years.

I am sorry to be critical, God bless you Derek.

No worries Kelly! Thank you for your input. I value everyone’s opinion. God bless you!

I don’t understand how the Top 100 does not include Petra, Phil Keaggy, Amy Grant, Keith Green, The Imperials, Randy Stonehill, David Meece, Rez Band, Rich Mullins and other artists off this lilst……..

You need to explain how this list was assembled – for these and a few other names not being on here would be like not including The Beatles and Elvis Presley on the list of Greatest Rock ‘n Roll artists for secular music……..

Peter

Mind you – much of what is on this list I have little/if any objection………still…..

Reply

Derek Hill April 14, 2013 at 5:30 pm

I appreciate your suggestions Peter. This was not an easy task and I realized while making it that I wouldn’t please every one. It would be impossible to please every one, but I put the songs on here that I felt God wanted me to. With that being said, Petra, Phil Keaggy, Rich Mullins and the rest you have mentioned definitely are amazing artists and their songs reflect their faith. God bless!

I sure wouldn’t want that task—top 100. But C’mon, In the Light 77th place???!!!!??

I am not familiar with his songs. I know who he is for sure, but I have never taken the time to listen to his music, and I will definitely make time for it now. Thank you for your suggestion! God bless!

No list of the “Best Christian Songs” can exist without at least one from Rich Mullins. Shame on you…

Reply

Derek Hill April 14, 2013 at 5:39 pm

Thank you for your suggestion Laura. I know I couldn’t please every one on this article but I put the songs on here that I felt lead by God to do. Rich Mullins was a great writer though, and his faith was very strong. God bless!

Nice list, but without Amy Grant or Michael W. Smith? Love the songs here, but it seems more like the top 100 of the past 5 years.

Reply

Derek Hill April 14, 2013 at 5:40 pm

I appreciate your suggestions Eric. Both of them are great choices that could have been included. Unfortunately someone is always left out :( God bless you!

And I have to agree with the others who are wondering where Keith Green and Steven Curtis Chapman are in this list. Time to go back to the drawing board.

Thank you again for your suggestions Justin. I put the songs on here that I felt led by God to put. I haven’t heard any Keith Green songs and I am going to go and educate myself on him now. Steven Curtis Chapman is a great choice though. He is a faithful man of God and his lyrics show it. God bless!

Sorry brother, but these might be the best of the last two decades, but no Keaggy, Petra, Stonehill, Dallas Holm, Servant, Rez Band… The list needs some old school pioneers!

Derek Hill April 14, 2013 at 8:02 pm

Thank you Patrick for your suggestions. Keaggy is an excellent choice! I will include him in an article somewhere down the line for sure! God bless!

Great list! There are a few I am not familiar with so I am excited to check them out! Right now I personally have three songs that I could listen to over & over again-two of them made your list- “Worn” & “You Are More” by Tenth Avenue North. The third is “Where I Belong” by Building 429. That song spoke to me in such a profound way! They did make it on the list with two of their other songs though. :) God Bless!

Of all time? Where is the Christian music from the 80′s and 90′s? Where on the list is Steven Curtis Chapman, Rich Mullins, Petra, Mylon Lefevre, Michael Card, Keith Green, Amy Grant, Twila Paris. Can’t be of all time should have titled it “best of 21st century.” Can’t leave out the 80′s and 90′s.
