Top 12 Christian Friendship Songs

by Derek on June 26, 2013

I love reading stories in the Bible about people who were great friends, like, Jonathon and David or Ruth and Naomi. Here are 12 songs that deal with friendships with each other and with Jesus. Enjoy!

9. The Last Night, Skillet

1. God Gave Me You, Dave Barnes

This is my all-time favorite song about friendship. I decided to put all of the lyrics in this one. It is such a beautiful song!

I’ve been a walking heartache

I’ve made a mess of me

The person that I’ve been lately

Ain’t who I wanna be

But you stay here right beside me

Watch as the storm goes through

And I need you

God gave me you for the ups and downs

God gave me you for the days of doubt

For when I think I’ve lost my way

There are no words here left to say, it’s true

God gave me you

There’s more here than what we’re seeing

A divine conspiracy

That you, an angel, lovely

Could somehow fall for me

You’ll always be love’s great martyr

I’ll be the flattered fool

And I need you

God gave me you for the ups and downs

God gave me you for the days of doubt

For when I think I’ve lost my way

There are no words here left to say, it’s true

God gave me you

On my own I’m only half of what I could be

I can’t do without you

We are stitched together and what love has tethered

I could never undo

God gave me you for the ups and downs

God gave me you for the days of doubt

God gave me you for the ups and downs

God gave me you for the days of doubt

For when I think I’ve lost my way

There are no words here left to say, it’s true

God gave me you

Gave me you

Gave me you

Beautiful work here my brother Derek. I remember some years ago before becoming a pastor, kneeling down in tears and crying and singing to Jesus “What a friend we have in Jesus….” as we were in the throws of a search for a pastor in the Pastoral Search Committee. God did answer that prayer for as the lyrics said, “bringing EVERYTHING to Him in prayer…”

Love you brother.
